Insertion of Static Elements can enhance Heat Transfer Coefficient of Shell and Tube Exchanger by factor of 2 to 10 depending on Fluid properties and flow conditions. These are easy to operate and easy to clean as compared to Plate Heat Exchanger and therefore extremely useful in scaling liquid.

The insertion as noted above only increases the convention heat transfer. However there are Static Elements that can also provide extra Heat Transfer service by allowing Heat Transfer medium to flow through the Elements. These are very convenient Heat Transfer devices for high viscosity Liquid
